Dr. White | My Philosophy

I Believe in Finding the Root Cause

I continue to ask the “why” until wellness is restored.  I acknowledge the innate ability to heal, encourage personal responsibility for choices and utilize science-based interventions.  I seek to educate my patients, their families and the community on wholehealth wellness including nutrition, lifestyle choices and prevention, genetics, biochemistry, environmental toxicants, anatomy and pathophysiology so that they may make informed decisions regarding their health and well-being.

I Believe in Personalized Wellness

I promote personalized wellness and believe there is not a single solution for each health concern.  I work to connect the web of symptoms by listening deeply to each patient’s story and purposely spend time with them to understand what is meaningful in their life.  I combine this with a variety of functional testing methods to look for wellness potential as well as underlying imbalances upon which to target a nutritional program that is unique to each patient.  My desire is that each patient will realize his or her own health potential as they create lives devoted to healthy eating and health living.

I Believe in Teaching

The word doctor is derived from the Latin word “docere” meaning “to teach”.  I believe education is at the core of understanding your health.  Science has given us an amazing amount of information about how the body works through looking at our own unique biochemistry.  My goal is to teach you about “you” and what is appropriate for you according to your own bio-individuality.  I provide the tools and support you need to implement the necessary changes in your life for you to be successful in reaching your goals.  I also teach my patients how to nourish themselves, including how to select and prepare healthy food to live a life that restores and supports their lifestyle.

EMPOWERED BY EXPERIENCE

DR. LAURIE WHITE, DN, ND, FNTP, IFMCP

Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner

Dr. White is a licensed and board certified naprapathic doctor, board-certified naturopathic doctor, IFM certified functional medicine practitioner, certified Strategene® practitioner and a functional nutritional therapy practitioner who is passionate about functional medicine and compassionate about people.

She was drawn into the world of functional medicine after learning that her son had several serious food allergies that were impairing his immune system.
Using food as medicine was antidotal in reversing the severity of her son’s allergies and now she advocates using food and lifestyle modifications to allow the body to restore itself.

While her doctoral focus was on the musculoskeletal-neurovascular system and its role in physiology, “food as medicine” was able to open the door to the dramatic impact nutritional foundations have on body function.  Today, she uses that knowledge in her own practice and is passionate about teaching her patients to prepare nourishing food that restores and supports their wellness.  Her areas of clinical interest and expertise include immune + autoimmune support, food allergies + sensitivities, chronic inflammation, blood sugar regulation, adrenal/thyroid/hormonal imbalances, MTHFR/nutrigenomics, energy/mitochondrial, detoxification support and gastrointestinal health.  She has post-doctorate training in Functional Endocrinology (adrenal + thyroid + hormonal), Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis, Naprapathic Techniques + Physical Medicine Modalities, Neuroimmunology, Methylation + Clinical Nutrigenomics, GI Health + Immunology, Detoxification, and Functional Nutrition. Dr. White is active in continuing her medical education to maintain, develop, or increase the knowledge, skills, and professional performance and relationships that she uses to provide services for her patients.

Dr. White believes that the relationship between patient and practitioner should be collaborative, and works to address concerns with compassion and kindness.  As a functional medicine practitioner she is afforded the time to really listen, get to know, and connect with her patients.  This is her favorite part of practicing functional medicine and part of what makes the experience of partnering with her so special.  By combining her knowledge of naprapathic medicine, naturopathic medicine, nutrigenomics, nutritional therapy, and functional medicine, she partners with her patients to build healthy, sustainable lifestyles that address the root cause of their health issues, not just the symptoms.

Dr. White approaches health—and her life—from a whole body perspective, incorporating all facets of wellness into every aspect.
